Idaho-born artist Kira Appelhans fell in love with printmaking as a student of landscape architecture. Appelhans found that the etched lines of intaglio printmaking, where ink is deposited into the incised line of an image, allowed her an alternate, tactile way to study the processes of the natural world. Today her work, which has been featured in MoMA, is focused on landscape design and urbanism.
