A highly respected astronomer, Stephen Strom has held numerous prominent positions over the years, including Harvard University, the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and the National Optical Astronomy Observatory. His photography has been exhibited widely throughout the United States and is held in several permanent collections. Greatly influenced by his background in astronomy, Strom's photos evidence a unique way of looking at the landscape. For over thirty years he's been photographing the deserts of the American Southwest, creating arresting images of forbidding yet breathtaking landscapes.
